I was using citrus based stripper to remove the paint from my 100 year old house. It made such a mess. When I saw that this infrared paint stripper was going to be for sale I immediately preordered one! I have been wanting one for a long time, but the cost of other infrared strippers was way out of my price range.
I have now been using this for a few weeks and it is amazing. So much quicker and easier with less clean up after. I would recommend this product to anyone who has a restoration project. it is very easy to handle and use and you cannot beat the affordability.

This is the first heat stripper I’ve used, but I’m very happy with it. Easy to use and has worked well on my ~60 year old paint without burning the wood underneath despite my inexperience. The back side and handle don’t get hot even with prolonged used, but it can get a little heavy to hold. Happy I got it for personal use!

Great stripper!
I was interested to get my hands on this as I have a lot of paint that needs to be removed and much of it is lead.
So far, I have stripped about 80 sq. feet on a painted pine floor with good results. I will still have to sand and/or use a liquid stripper but I am 95% of the way there. The smell isn’t bad but I would recommend a respirator and lots of open windows.
I was able to find an interval timer online and I set that for 30 seconds. The stripper seemed to work best at 30 seconds. I use one of those big paint scrapers with a knob on the back. The putty knives were ok but the bigger one worked better overall.
It is best to remove the paint immediately after heating, otherwise it will harden again.
Keep a shop vac or dust pan to clean up as you go and there is very little mess.
I am glad I found this tool. Traditional heat guns and chemical strippers work but this has been much more effective and efficient for my needs with fewer chemicals.

Amazing product that performs exactly as advertised (although I’d follow Scott’s advice on heating time as opposed to the instructions). I can strip through 6 layers of paint on our 120-year old windows easily. Only minor issue is that my ceramic plate/heating element is mounted on a slight tilt so one end is closer to the wood than the other. When I as first using the unit I ended up with paint bubbling up too high and getting on the plate before the other end of the working area had reached temperature, but I just hold the unit at a bit of an angle and it works like a charm.

After a long wait I finally received my IR Paint Stripper and put it to use right away. Just to give you some inf. I own multiple properties that I mostly maintain myself. Many of them use the double hung window system which are in dire need of updating and restoring. I put this to use on my personal 1928 Spanish Colonial home which is all double hung windows. First off, the tool is very well balanced in your hand and is comfortable. Heat up time is as described per the instructions. Removing multiple layers of paint was a breeze…up to 6 layers with the bottom being oil based. Now, let’s get to the. real reason I purchased this tool….removing old glazing. I first tried this on a test window that I use before using it on the originals. I found that the ability of the IR Paint Stripper’s to remove (safely) old glazing is dependent on the age of the glazing. 93 year old glazing is “rock” hard and is very difficult to soften where it can be removed without breaking the glass. Glazing that is not as old comes off very easily using the IR Paint Stripper. Another aspect of this tool is its portability. I used this on windows that are not removable and it worked perfectly. Historical glass (glimmer/rolled) is not cheap to replace. I’m thinking that a steam cabinet would be my next project. Using that in conjunction with the IR Paint Stripper, I’m pretty sure I’d be able to restore all my windows safely and quickly. I’ll post another follow-up in a few months of using the IR Paint Stripper tool.

I’m thrilled with this purchase! Efficient & practical, this stripper does what it claims. I’ve been using it outside to strip paint from my 1960’s interior 6 panel doors. It produces some smoke so I would be reluctant to use indoors without being able to open all windows for air circulation.

I absolutely loved using it for my home restoration. It made paint stripping so much easier. I didn’t even have it a month when it took a tumble and the ceramic plate shattered. I am devastated, I wish there was a way to fix it but it looks like I’ll be purchasing a new one when they are back in stock

We bought this to supplement our Speedheater Cobra, and to get into trim and such. It takes a lot longer to heat up and there’s a bit of a learning curve to using it. It’s a good addition to our tools. For a few smaller projects, this is more than adequate and very much worth the price. I really like it.
