America has lost its mind concerning shutters. The insanity of these seemingly simple architectural wood items historically used to protect windows from inclement weather has gotten out of hand with thoughtless design that is both frightening and hilarious at the same time.
For about 4 years I shared weekly shutter atrocities on Instagram under the hashtag #ShudderSunday to educate and poke fun at those who don’t know what a shutter should be. The trend grew a huge following with features on The New York Times, NPR, The New York Post, Buzz Feed and other media.
Now you can have all the laughs and guffaws of those 4 years in one coffee table book to enjoy with guests and visitors to educate people about what a shutter truly is and what it very much isn’t. And what is that? The simple answer is this…a shutter shuts.
